Under 7’s & 8’s Vs Stoke 7’s & 8’s (Mixed Side) – 6.11.10

Under 7 / 8 s

On Sunday the Under 7’s took part in their first game against Stoke. The team was made of up players new to the game and many of them taking part for the very first time. The Under 7’s produced a fantastic performance putting all of their new found skills into practice with passing, running and tackling, they played really well however they were beaten in the dying minutes by two well work tries by a strong established Stoke side and lost 4 -6. However they showed fantastic promise and dedication throughout the game and after proving that they are a brilliant team with real potential for the future.

Shortly after the Under 8’s then took on the same Stoke side. This game produced some fantastic individual performances with players really beginning to find their feet and positions within the team. The Game got off to a quick start with both teams exchanging tries early and the game was all square at half time at 2 -2. The second half was much the same with both teams scoring early however after sustained pressure from Stoke they found a way through the Newcastle defense to clinch the game 6 – 5 in the dieing seconds.

Both teams played really well and are starting to put into practice the skills and technique’s that they are learning in training every Sunday. They are establishing themselves as real teams with a future within the game and can only go from strength to strength.

Under 8’s First Game Against Eccleshall

Under 7 / 8 s

On Sunday the 31st October the Under 8’s had their first fixture of the season against Eccleshall. The lads arrived at Eccleshall awake, alert and ready to go (with the exception of Jo Toplass who turned up late due to his father’s hangover).

The Lads took on Eccelshall in the first game and after a shaky start produced some fantastic handling and running skills to see them selves emerge victors 4 tries to 2.

During the second game the lad’s really began to shine and gel as a team and produced some brilliant rugby with slick passing, hard tackling and running supporting lines and cutting angles back inside with the ball. This produced a fantastic win with 9 tires to 0!!!!

This Sunday the Under 8’s and 7’s take on the much tougher task of Stoke at home. But they are already demonstrating the skills of a established team with real potential for the future. So this is a challenge that they are defiantly looking forward to and will hopefully produce another fantastic result.
